Hubby and I went to a few sales yesterday but didn't find too much. What I did find might make me a few bucks though! I found a 1950's Boxcar Children hard back book....one sold a few weeks ago for $66.00! Of course others didn't sell for that much so I'm putting it at BIN for $49.95 and we'll see what happens....mine is the only one I see on eBay right now. I paid $2.00 for it!

I also found this pair of women's motorcycle shoes from Thorogood....I had never heard of that brand before but they are in excellent shape and they were only $2.00 so I thought they might sell. After doing some research I found out these same shoes sell on the Thorogood website for $119!! These are as good as new so I listed them at $59.95! I hope they sell...and soon!

I've been trying to get more magazines listed. I still have 26 items to list before midnight to reach my goal! Ha! I might have been able to accomplish it but I've had a little visitor at my house today! My little grandbaby is almost 3 months old already...so sweet and precious!

Thanks for stopping by! ~~Pam

Monday's Madness

It's always hard to think of a title for my posts but Monday was busy...especially Monday night! I s'pose everyone was finished with all their picnics and parties and started shopping online! I had a few orders to get ready that kept me up late last night!

When I was almost done packing up the 14 pint jars I got this order of 2 half gallon jars and 2 table runners! So I figured I might as well get it ready too!

Well, that's about it! I need to get more pictures taken today so I can list more. I really want to get my store built up. I need to list 41 more things in the next few days to make my goal...I just might make it! Thanks for stopping by! ~~Pam

Latest News

Wow, time flies when you're having fun! Ha! Life just gets so busy sometimes! My son and his wife were back for a visit from New York so that kept last weekend busy. One of my boys broke his big toe Tuesday so that just adds to the business of life too!

A couple of weeks ago I bought 310...yes...310 old magazines at a yard sale! Friday they were 25 cents each or 5 for $1.00. I bought $10 worth that day and told her if she didn't sell them all I would come back Saturday and give her 10 cents each for them so she said okay! Saturday I went back and bought 260 more magazines! There were lots of hunting and fishing type magazines from back in the 1930's and 40's and I had looked them up and it looked like I could make a little money on them! So I am figuring that I spent an average of 12 cents each on all of the magazines. So far I have made a profit of $188.69 on the 27 that I've sold! I am selling these for between $7.50 and $9.95 each.

Sold 19 so far - Profit of $129.67

Sold 8 so far - Profit $59.02

I have tons yet to list but I'm figuring out how to edit my pictures quicker and how to list them quicker...got a system down so it's actually not too bad. I have old issues of Successful Farmer, Farmer's Journal, National Sportsman, Hunting & Fishing and others. I figure I should make a nice little profit on all of them! I did debate on whether or not to list them separately or in a group of like 4-6 or groups from each year. I decided on doing them separately for now and so far it's working! I think when I finally get them all listed and a lot of them sell then I will have a sale on them to move more of them out. If it gets down to where I think I should bundle them together to get rid of the last ones then I'll do that then. How would you do it? ( Here's a link to the ones I have listed: http://stores.ebay.com/Pamelas-Paraphernalia/Magazines-/_i.html?_fsub=876279519 I have 35 there and I've sold 27 so I've listed 62 so far....248 to go!!! )

Bought this new, never been used Caboodle make-up case at a yard sale for $5.00. Still had a cosmetic bag attached to the inside! Sold it for $37.50!

Caboodle Make-up Case
Paid $5.00 - Sold for $37.50 - Profit $26.09

I had read somewhere that these old granny square afghans sell well so when I found this one for 2 bucks I picked it up! Sold within a couple of weeks!

Granny Square Afghan
Paid $2.00 - Sold for 29.95 - Profit $23.10

Bought this old push toy at Goodwill for $1.99. I should have probably saved it for my little grandson to play with in a few months but the money won out this time! I sold it to someone in Australia who was willing to pay $48 to ship it there! I then figured out that I had added priority shipping to the listing and I could send it by first class so it ended up costing her $23 instead and I refunded the difference. Hope it makes it there okay....and remind me to never buy anything this weird shaped to ship again! It was hard to find a box!

Paid $1.99 - Sold for $19.95 - Profit $14.08

I mentioned this little dandy that I sold a couple of weeks ago...sold it for $49.95....well, I got a message from the lady saying that when she tried to install it she kept getting an error message saying the activation key was invalid. I tried to call the company and see what I could do but I guess since it was previously owned maybe the code was already used. He also told me it was alright for me to buy it at a yard sale but I shouldn't have sold it on ebay. I don't know if that is true or not but I definitely won't be buying computer programs to sell anymore! I refunded her the entire price. Figured she shouldn't have to mail back the program but maybe I should have had her do that...I don't know. I guess I always hope that people are being honest with me.

Well, that's about it. I've sold a few other things but nothing to write home about! Guess I better be getting busy listing some more magazines! Thanks for stopping by! ~~Pam

A Question About Buy it Now

I have a question....why do people "buy it now" and then not pay for days? They're right there clicking on the "BIN" button and they can't pay for it now? Is there a good reason that I just don't know about why they do this? If they need to wait for funds to get into their paypal account, then why don't they just tell me? Seems crazy to me! I guess I just need to check the box that says they must pay immediately if they do buy it now! Here are my sales in my Etsy shop for the past few days...nothing thrilling!

I've got 3 of these bowls...this one I paid the most for. I had them priced higher but they just haven't sold till this one did. I need to take a better picture.....

Milk Glass Fruit Bowl

I remember my grandpa always having his folding ruler with him. I thought it was so neat! I've sold several like this over the past few years.

Love the vintage tea towels! I bought a bunch last fall for 50 cents each. I think I still have a few left in my shop.

Some Good Deals!

Hubby and I went yard sale-ing this morning in a small nearby town...it was their "city wide" yard sale day. We really found some good deals! I'm hoping to do really well on some of the things I got!
These cassette tapes are one item that I found....9 tapes for 50 cents! When I got home I took pictures and listed them at "Buy it Now' for $37.50 with free shipping...they sold within a couple of hours! Now that's what I call a good flip! I'd love to do that all the time...so fun! After shipping and fees I made $26.88 profit...not too bad!
Maxell Audio-Cassette Tapes
Paid 50 cents - Sold for $37.50 - Profit $26.88

Last week I bought this vanity mirror for 50 cents and sold it for $14.95. I've sold several vanity mirrors over the past few months...they always seem to sell fairly quickly!
Vintage Vanity Mirror
Paid 50 cents - Sold for $14.95 - Profit $13.17

Another item I found last week was this "Tell Me More Spanish" course. It only cost $1.00! I listed it for BIN $49.95 plus shipping and it sold within a couple of days!
Spanish Course
Paid $1.00 - Sold for $49.95 - Profit $43.76

I sold this Travel Scrabble game today.
Paid 50 cents - Sold for $12.00 - Profit $9.36

I've got lots of stuff to list in the next few days. Not sure if I'll go to the sales tomorrow or not. There are 2 nearby towns having sales so it's tempting but boy did I get worn out today! Hopefully I'll have more sales this week of the things I bought today....it'll be fun to show you! Thanks for stopping by! ~~Pam

Wednesday Update

Today is a typical Iowa summer day...hot and humid...only it's not really summer yet! It's only suppose to last a couple of days and then be back in the 70's where I like it! I got to go out to lunch with my mom today. We ate at Applebee's. I tried the Margarita Queso Chicken and Shrimp....dee-licious!

40 Creamy Pearl Shank Buttons

My youngest sister found me a few jars the other day. They cost me $2.00 each but they came with the zinc lid on them so I can still sell the lids separately for $1.00 each. I counted these 8  jars as costing me the $16 now though so the lids will be free and clear. She also got me 2 half gallon jars for $2.00 each with lids so I have them for sale also.

8 Blue Ball Quart Jars
Paid $16 - Sold for $59.50 - Profit $39.20

Ralph Lauren Mens Polo Shirt
Paid $2.00 - Sold for $22 with f/s - Profit $11.51

Avon Faithful Laddie Mens Wild Country Cologne

Selling this Avon piece brings my profit on Avon up to a little over $130 on all the Avon I bought last fall.

I went to the eye doctor yesterday and the girl that checked me in was updating my information. Apparently last time I had told them that I was self-employed so she asked me if I still was and she asked what I did so I told her I sell on Ebay and Etsy. She said, "So you get to stay home and work? How neat!" I'm pretty sure she thought what a lot of people think...that working from home is the life of luxury! I am glad that I can do this from home though. I like to be home! I like to be with my kids. So glad I can do it! I just really need to focus on getting my store up to 500 or 1000 items! I just keep hovering around 100. Gotta focus!

Avon Calling

Last October I bought about 40 different vintage Avon decanters for 10 cents each. I knew that old Avon sells slow but for 10 cents each I almost couldn't pass it up! Since then I have made a profit of $124 on what I've sold! I still have quite a few pieces left...I even have some left to list. It's not a ton of money, and each sale is usually a small profit of $5-$10 but as usual, every little nickel and dime adds up! These are my sales for the past couple of days:

Avon Somewhere Cologne
Paid 10 cents - Sold for $10.00 - Profit $7.90

This next item is an old folder from J & K Button Company here in Muscatine, Iowa. I guess they were sample buttons that companies could order from. I probably got it at a yard sale a couple of years ago and had it put away and forgot about it till this year. I thought it was neat and maybe would sell to some kind of button collector. I started it at $10 and got one bid. Guess it wasn't as neat to other people!

Sample Button Folder
Paid ? - Sold for $10.00 - Profit $7.61

These next 2 items are part of a 5 piece set that my 16 yr. old daughter spotted at a sale. They had $10 on the set and she asked them if they'd take $5 and they did! She's a good haggler!

Short Flatbed Car w/ Caterpillar Bull-Dozer
Paid $1.00 - Sold for $7.50 - Profit $6.25

Cen-Pe-Co Train Car
Paid $1.00 - Sold for $10.00 - Profit $8.01

I went to Goodwill this afternoon and got a couple of plush items and 2 sets of VHS tapes....a 3 tape set of Star Wars and a 5 tape set of Lucy....hopefully they will sell!

I'm Still Here

Hello! I'm sorry I've been waaay lax about posting for like 3 weeks now.....we went away for a weekend and then life just gets busy and then I don't feel like I have anything thrilling to post and then the days just get away from me!!! I don't have much time right now either but here are just a few things I sold on Ebay these past weeks:

I've had these button cards sitting around for probably two or three years in a box and was sorting through some buttons and "found" them so figured I should just get them listed! I don't remember where I got them or how much for sure I paid for them. They are probably from several different places.

35 Cards of Pearl Buttons
Paid $3.00? - Sold for $29.50 - Profit $19.07

This is a talking Barney that I got ages ago when my kids were littler. I had to save my points up from packages of Luv's diapers to get this. He came with a computer disc and everything but I didn't have that part to put with him.

Talking and Singing Barney
Paid - FREE - Sold for $27.95 - Profit $25.40

My sister Naomi gave me some things to sell and these Cottage Living magazines were some of them. I looked them up on Ebay and it seemed like $15.00 for 12 was a good average to start with so I put them up for "Buy it Now" and they sold fairly quickly! Thank you Naomi!

Cottage Living Magazines
Paid - Free! - Sold for $15.00 - Profit $12.58

These Taste of Home magazines are magazines I've had sitting in my cookbook cupboard for years. I used to love looking through them but now with the internet and Pinterest I like looking online more so I freed up a little cupboard space! They took awhile to sell...I think because the shipping seems so high since they can't be sent by Media mail because of the advertising.

33 Taste of Home Magazines
Sold for $12.00 - Profit $10.11

Here are 4 Boyd's Mason jars that I got with my last jar haul. They are unique and different than the usual blue Ball jars I sell. I originally had them for $50 with best offer. Someone offered me $40 so I took it!

4 Boyd Mason Jars
Paid $4.00 - Sold for $40.00 - Profit $29.75

This next jar is a wide-mouth blue Ball Special jar. I've only had a few of these come through with all of the jars that I've gotten over the past few years. I put it up for $25.00 and got a couple of different offers. I finally took an offer of $20.00.

Blue Ball Special Wide-Mouth Jar
Paid $1.00 - Sold for $20.00 - Profit $16.24

My 3 youngest kiddo's and I went garage sale-ing last week in a small nearby town. It was fun although I really didn't find a whole lot of treasures. Then yesterday my Hubby and I went to a few but the day was cut short because of a doctors appt. that he had to go to. I'm feeling kinda disappointed because I've been really wanting to get some new inventory to try to up my listings and I just haven't found anything great yet! Hopefully next weekend will be better! I really need to get some more jars. I've sold most of the 120 jars that I got awhile back! My profit so far is at least $640!

Well, I need to get to bed. I will try to update more often. Thanks so much for stopping by! ~~Pam
