Update and Goals

Time sure flies when you're having fun! We've all had the flu the past few weeks....fever, aches, colds and a cough that just won't go away! We are on the mend but it sure hangs on for awhile! We will be getting the flu shot next season!

I had some good sales on some shoes the past couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to keeping an eye out for shoes this summer at the yard sales! They just seem easy to me and a lot of them are great flips!

Womens Dr. Comfort Shoes

I was at a sale this past fall and saw this adorable owl. He is heavy! It was an older lady and she had $5.00 on him. I wasn't sure how much I could resell it for and I thought I would try to get her down at least a dollar. She kind of hemmed and  hawed for a few seconds but let me have it for $4.00. When I walked away I felt kinda guilty for haggling with her. I researched the owl and it looked like I should be able to get around 50 bucks for it. One had sold for that before and mine was the only other one on at the time of listing. It took a couple of months to sell but I did get $49.95 and it actually sold to a lady in my home town so I got to hand deliver it! Of course that meant she wanted me to refund her shipping costs. I should have told her right off the bat that I would still charge a couple of dollars because I did get charged fees from eBay and Paypal on the shipping! Oh well, I still made out pretty good on it!

Hot rollers seem to do well. These took awhile to sell but I always do finally sell them.

These zinc lids are the wide-mouth kind which are really hard to find. I don't even count that they cost me anything because they are usually thrown in with the jars that I buy from people. These sold for $29.95!!!

6 Wide Mouth Zinc Lids

A Ball quart jar that has the number 13 on the bottom. I usually sell them for around $15 but thought I would try for a little more on this one. Sold for $17.95!

I found this Franklin Covey leather planner at Goodwill for $2.88 and thought it was a good time of year to try to sell it! Sold for $19.95! I also found another one a few days ago so I'm hoping it will sell as well!

Paid $2.88 - Sold for $19.95 - Profit $14.21

This book was in really good condition and had lots of pictures in it. Sometimes I just like to buy and list books, but of course sometimes there isn't as much profit on  them. I'd like to be able to find the books that are worth a lot more like some of the eBay bloggers do! I guess I did have one good sale on a book found here! Guess I'll just have to keep my eyes open this summer!

The Golden Book of America
Paid $1.00 - Sold for $9.95 - Profit $6.53

Well, that's about it. I did sell a few jars in my Etsy shop. I'm still working on washing up the over 150 jars that I got a few months ago! Boy were they filthy! Still probably have 40-50 to do!

I have 3 new tickers at the top right of my page here. One for each of my shops or stores. I never have met my monthly goal of 150 for all 3 shops combined so I don't know if I'll be able to handle this or not but I'd sure like to give it a try! Thanks for stopping by! ~~Pam

  1. I had those exact remington hot rollers in high school, it was totally nostalgic seeing them, I could smell the hairspray I used while looking at the photo, haha!
You do so great with jars, how do you safely ship them?

  2. That's a cool owl. I just recently sold my 2nd McCoy owl planter for $34 plus shipping. Owls continue to be a hot seller! Happy New Year!

  4. I second what Lorraine said about your shoe photos- they look great! My hubby and one of my daughters have been fighting upper respiratory infections, too, and we did get the flu shot. My poor girl started crying last night and asked me if she was ever going to feel good again. It really does hang on. I hope the new year brings good health to all of us very soon!

  5. I have sold a few Isabel Bloom pieces. Pick them up whenever you see them as they are usually good sellers though they may sit a while. They are easy to spot with their characteristic grayish white surface. Recently I found five of them in the same thrift on different days. Someone must have donated a collection of them.

I hope you and your family feel better soon. I got the flu shot and so far I've not had anything.

  6. Hi! I love your blog and always keep up. Wondering what kind of camera/equipment you use to get such great shoe photos?
    Thank you,
    Jen

  8. Looks like that jar is from the 20s to 30s...it's always amazing to me how long mason jars can last.
I did a blog post recently about them. http://therecycleista.blogspot.com/2014/02/a-vintage-education-dating-old-canning.html

  9. Ditto on the shoe photos - they look great. Do you find you have to do much shoe cleaning? I usually pass shoes by if they're not in like new condition. I know there can be money to be made in used shoes, but I also know that they will sit and sit and sit while I procrastinate cleaning them up prior to resale.
