Latest Sales

Life gets so busy it's hard to keep this blog updated! My mom, daughter and I went to visit my sister Naomi for a couple of days last week so that was fun! Nice to get away! We went to a few yard sales when we were there and I found a few treasures to try to resell...a couple of vanity mirrors, a set of hot rollers, some baby Einstein books, etc.....I think I even have them all listed already!

Here's some of what I've sold since the first of the month:

This half gallon jar took awhile to sell....I think I had it at $35 for awhile and finally lowered it a bit.

Blue Ball #13 Half Gallon Jar
Paid $1.00 - Sold for $29.95 - Profit $23.59

These boots were in like new condition. I was thinking I could try to sell them for more but my 16 year old said they are just boots from Kohl's and that they really aren't worth that much so I just listed them for $25...they sold within a few hours! I think I probably could have gotten a litte bit more!

Ladies Mudd Motorcycle Boots
Paid $2.00 - Sold for $25.00 - Profit $18.69

A couple of weeks ago hubby and I were at a sale and the lady pointed out these good as new Red Wing work shoes that her husband never wore. My husband said he didn't need any anymore since he lost his factory job. Well I knew that they are expensive so I was debating about buying them. She had $9 on them so I finally said I would take them. Well then she wondered why I wanted to buy them since my husband said he didn't need them! So I told her I would probably try to sell them on eBay.....I could tell that bugged her! She asked me what I thought I would ask for them and I told her I really had no idea because I didn't have any idea! She said well you could probably get $25 for them.... I knew I could get more than that! I probably could have gotten more than I asked for but I wanted to sell them fast!

This next little package was a fun sale! I remember playing with these types of puzzles when I was a kid. These were 50 cents at a yard sale a few weeks ago. I looked up sold listings and saw that they were selling for between $20-$30. I am so used to listing "Buy it Now" that I forgot to watch what time I started this auction! I had started it around midnight! I wonder if I could have done better if I had ended it at a more reasonable hour! I'm happy with what I got though! They sold for $29.89!

I found this finished cross stitch already framed for $2.00! I know owls are "in" so I thought it might sell. My 16 yr. old daughter didn't think it would though!

    1. I really don't know very much about shoes yet either...I just knew that those 2 brands might sell pretty well. I was just telling my husband the other day that I need to learn more about shoes! ~~Pam

  2. Wow you really had a great sales week! I always hate it when I buy things at sales & people make a comment about it & I do not want to tell them I am reselling. Always happens with sewing & craft things I will but a bunch of it & they will say oh you are crafty! I just try & make something up quick about getting it for a crafty friend.

    1. Thanks Rhonda! I know what you mean about people asking questions...whenever I go to buy jars from someone they always ask if I'm using them for crafts or canning or something or they just ask what I'm going to do with them all and I feel like I have to tell them! Most are okay with it though...they wouldn't want to take the time to clean them up, take pictures, list and pack them! ~~Pam

  4. You had some great sales! I would have snatched up those Red Wing shoes too. Many years ago my daughter worked for UPS and she had to get those Red Wing shoes so I know how expensive they are. My DH is such a social butterfly and loves to talk, so when we go to garage sales I have to remind him not to spill the beans about my business.

    1. Thank you! I don't understand why people care if we are reselling their stuff....they want to get rid of it or they wouldn't be having a yard sale! I s'pose they just don't like the idea that we will probably make more money off their stuff than they are! ~~Pam

  5. I have a really hard time lying, so I have to tell some kind of truth so it works for me. If I buy toys, I say they're for my nieces or nephews and I picture their little faces in my head so I know I could be telling the truth. People generally do not like resellers so I try and keep that to myself. You're doing so well with your sales. I prob would have bought that owl cross stitch too. Glad to know people are still buying owl stuff. I wonder what the next popular animal is going to be?

    1. Yeah, I would never lie about it. If they don't like it they should be selling on ebay themselves! I hardly ever have anybody say anything at yard sales but when I go for the jars that I advertise for they definitely want to know what I'm doing with them! When I first started doing this I was actually at a yard sale and the guy had 90 jars and he asked what I was going to do with so I told him I sell them to ladies who want to use them for their wedding vases. I could tell it bugged him and his wheels started turning but he finally decided he didn't want to mess with all the hassle of trying to sell them online which was good for me! ~~Pam
