New Goal for Februrary

As you might have noticed I have a new ticker on my sidebar with the snowflakes. I picked that because of all the snow we've been getting here in Iowa....and there's more coming! Anyway, several people had suggested having a goal of listing so many things instead of a dollar amount so that's what I'm going to try for this month! I have the goal of listing 5 items a day. I don't know if that'll be too much or not. Yesterday it seemed like it took me forever to get 5 listings up but I did it! Today might be hard too since I won't be able to get started till later this afternoon but I'll give it a shot.

No sales yesterday.

Thanks for stopping by! ~~Pam

  1. It's not easy committing to a listing goal. It takes me a long time to do a listing sometimes. The photography has to be just right, then the cropping of the photos and the actual typing of the description. Sometimes I'll pre-pack the item to see how much the shipping weight will be...yadda yadda. But here' the thing..in the middle of listing I'll get a sale and then I'll stop to process that. Then maybe I'll get a phone call or make a cup of coffee, or the phone will ring, or the cat will throw up, or the dryer will buzz or I'll have to go to the bathroom or the mailman will come with packages (which of course I have to open), then I'll have lunch, maybe take a walk, get groceries, oh and make dinner. Oh yeah, what was I doing? That's right, I was going to list that widget. Sigh.

  2. If five is hard...commit to four. You're doing great don't set goals that you can't meet.

    1. I did think about starting with 3/day but I thought I would try to challenge myself...if I said 3 then I might only get 1 or 2...this way maybe I'll at least get 3 or 4 a day, lol! ~~Pam

  3. I fall short of my listing goals more often than I meet them, but I KNOW that I get more listed when I keep track and have the ticker on my blog than not keeping track at all. :-) Hope it works well for you too.

    1. I thought having the goal and putting the ticker on here would definitely keep me more accountable than if I didn't. You do really well with yours! ~~Pam

  4. I need to commit to listing a certain amount each day too, I am so bad about listing! The last 2 weeks I have been a bit better & my sales show a definite improvement.

  5. Goals are great. I think it's important that we have something to work towards. Even if we fall short a bit, I think we work harder and get farther when we have goals. I think you're doing great! :)

  6. Listing goals are smart. I personally don't think photographing and listing each item is super efficient. What we do is photograph a whole pile of items, writing down the details and measurements in a notebook. Then later, we list these items in one big push. We do about 20 items at a time. There's something about breaking up the process that makes it go faster. Just an idea. We all have our process that works. Keep it up.

    1. I do the same thing, Jay. Also, whenever possible, I try to photograph, write-up, and list a group of like items so that I can use the sell similar feature to make it go faster.

    2. I always take a bunch of pictures at a time and then edit and list when I have more down time. Yesterday I took pictures of 17 different items which I will try to list today and tomorrow and hopefully catch up on my goal! Yeah, rarely do I just take a picture of one item and then list it and then repeat...that would take way too long! Thanks so much for your comment! ~~Pam
