A Good Month! (so far)

NOTE: I've had this post partially ready for a week or more and figured I would just finally post it already! I've made a few comments on some of the things I sold and toward the end you'll just see the numbers!

January has been a good month for me so far! I've had some good higher end sales which helps a lot! Lots of the things I've sold have been things that my family or friends have given me that they've found thrifting. Like these Florsheim shoes....they have the V cleat and 5 nails on the bottom. Apparently they are worth more. I had read Meinard's post about them and my sister Naomi did too. She's the one that found them....she thinks she only paid either $2 or $4 for them! She generously gave them to me to sell. I researched the prices and some sold for more and some for less. I didn't know for sure what to do so I went with $89.95 and listed them....they sold the next morning! I always feel like I probably listed for way less than I should have when that happens!

I had 7 salesman catalog cards of buttons listed on eBay. I got a message from a lady who wanted a deal on all of them so I offered them to her for less. Then I e-mailed her and told her about my ButtonCrazy shop on Etsy and that I had 28 more cards of them there and she wanted those also! That was a good deal that really helped out this week!

Then a couple of days ago I had someone want 11 of my old magazines and they paid $90 including shipping so another good sale! Total profit on all of the old magazines I bought last year so far is $573.43 for 85 magazines! I still have lots more to take pictures of and list.

Update and Goals

Time sure flies when you're having fun! We've all had the flu the past few weeks....fever, aches, colds and a cough that just won't go away! We are on the mend but it sure hangs on for awhile! We will be getting the flu shot next season!

I had some good sales on some shoes the past couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to keeping an eye out for shoes this summer at the yard sales! They just seem easy to me and a lot of them are great flips!

I was at a sale this past fall and saw this adorable owl. He is heavy! It was an older lady and she had $5.00 on him. I wasn't sure how much I could resell it for and I thought I would try to get her down at least a dollar. She kind of hemmed and  hawed for a few seconds but let me have it for $4.00. When I walked away I felt kinda guilty for haggling with her. I researched the owl and it looked like I should be able to get around 50 bucks for it. One had sold for that before and mine was the only other one on at the time of listing. It took a couple of months to sell but I did get $49.95 and it actually sold to a lady in my home town so I got to hand deliver it! Of course that meant she wanted me to refund her shipping costs. I should have told her right off the bat that I would still charge a couple of dollars because I did get charged fees from eBay and Paypal on the shipping! Oh well, I still made out pretty good on it!

This book was in really good condition and had lots of pictures in it. Sometimes I just like to buy and list books, but of course sometimes there isn't as much profit on  them. I'd like to be able to find the books that are worth a lot more like some of the eBay bloggers do! I guess I did have one good sale on a book found here! Guess I'll just have to keep my eyes open this summer!

The Golden Book of America
Paid $1.00 - Sold for $9.95 - Profit $6.53

Well, that's about it. I did sell a few jars in my Etsy shop. I'm still working on washing up the over 150 jars that I got a few months ago! Boy were they filthy! Still probably have 40-50 to do!

I have 3 new tickers at the top right of my page here. One for each of my shops or stores. I never have met my monthly goal of 150 for all 3 shops combined so I don't know if I'll be able to handle this or not but I'd sure like to give it a try! Thanks for stopping by! ~~Pam
