2 Sales

Today the lady that bought the 4 jars yesterday decided she wanted 10 more jars! She wanted a lower price and to include shipping in that price. I met her about halfway and she went for it. I'm just glad to sell some of these jars that I recently bought and get some of the money back! So with the 4 jars yesterday and then these I made a profit of $56.87 which figures out to $4.06 profit per jar. I usually average around $5.00 profit on a jar.

I also sold these vintage postcards. I found out that people like the ones with writing on the back! It is fun to read them and I suppose people might use them for scrapbooking or something.

25 Vintage Postcards with writing
Paid 50 cents - Sold for $6.00 - Profit $5.61

Finally Sold a Few Jars

Paid $4.00 - Sold for $15.00

I sold these 4 quart jars cheaper than I usually do. These jars had some little chippy spots on the rims, more than just little dings, so I offered them at a lower cost. I usually sell the quart jars for between $6 and $7. These weren't quite $4.00 a piece. They work fine for flower vases and I think that's what some of my customers have wanted them for.

I really need to sell some bigger orders of good jars! I've got them listed, now they need to sell!

I Learned Something New Today!

Today I found eBay Radio! There are all sorts of broadcasts of fellow eBay sellers that give lots of tips and tricks! Am I the only one who didn't know this? I listened to a few today. Very helpful information!

I didn't sell a thing today! I did list several things though so hopefully I will sell something soon!

It's almost 1:30 in the morning...I've got to get to bed!

Thanks for stopping by! ~~Pam

I Forgot!

I usually try to put up a new post every night before I go to bed but I guess I was so tired last night that I completely forgot! I remembered this morning when I woke up at 6:00! I guess I didn't have anything too thrilling to report! I did sell a bottle of Avon cologne for men called "Windjammer". A couple of months ago I picked up a bunch of Avon decanters, mostly for men, for 10 cents each. I kinda wish I wouldn't have bothered for the most part. It's not selling very fast. After I did some research though, this bottle sells for more like a newer price. It's full and sold for $18.95! That's a pretty good mark-up!
Avon Windjammer Cologne - Paid 10 cents - Sold for $18.95
Profit after fees and packaging - $18.89

I sold this to someone in Japan. I hope all goes well and it makes it there okay. I actually made a little bit on the shipping on this one. I even sent him a partial refund on the shipping as it was less than expected. I figure since the fees are higher with an international purchase that it helps defray that cost. I usually cut it pretty close and don't make too much extra on the shipping.

I was looking at the stats on my Etsy shop this morning. It has been a slow month there for me. So far this month I've only sold $284.15. Last year for the same time period I had sold $760.80! That's quite a bit of difference! I'm thinking it's probably because this year I've been focusing more on Ebay. I have a store now so I've been trying to fill that instead of filling my vintage shop. Things seem to sell faster on Ebay and we really need the money! When I think that I need to get some things on Etsy, then I think to myself....well, this would probably sell quicker on Ebay....so that's what happens! I wish I could keep them both plus my button shop going every day. Ideally I would like to list at least 3 things in each shop each day. Trouble is, just because we really need the money doesn't mean I've suddenly had less to do so that I can list more! We still have 5 kids at home and life is busy! Oh well, all I can do is try to do the best I can.

Hopefully I will have some sales today to update with tonight....if I don't forget!

Nike shirt on it's way out!

Nike Shirt - Paid $2.38 - Took Best Offer of $7.50
Profit after fees and packaging - $4.01

Didn't make a whole lot today. I had this shirt listed for quite awhile at $10 and someone offered me $5.00 and I counter offered $7.50 and it sold.

I did get a few new sets of buttons listed in my ButtonCrazy shop today. I have soooo  many buttons that I really need to try to list a few new sets every day so that I can start selling some!

Well, not much else exciting to talk about today. Thanks for stopping by! ~~Pam

Patience....

100 Scrabble Tiles - Paid $1.38 - Sold for $10.00
Profit after fees and packaging - $6.91

Ball Half Gallon Jar - Paid $1.00 - Sold for $12.50
Profit after fees and packaging - $10.04

Conair Hot Rollers - Paid $4.38 - Sold for $26.00
Profit after fees and packaging - $16.16

As you can see, I finally sold the hot rollers! After this post about my dilemma on selling them, I took some of the advice and listed them starting at $25.00. Nobody bought them! Then I listed them starting lower and still no bite! I think I relisted them 3 times and no takers. So a few days ago I started them at $14.95 and ended up with a few bidders and sold them for $26.00! I guess sometimes you just have to be patient! Now if my old set of hot rollers go out on me I will be wishing I hadn't sold these. Hopefully that won't happen!

If It Ain't One Thing....It's Another!

Yesterday my husband decided to change the brakes on his truck. We really couldn't afford it but he said it would only cost about $35. Long story short, he worked on the brakes, battery was dead, jumped the battery, locked keys in truck, didn't have another key, called locksmith, $53 to unlock the truck, worked on brakes some more, needed another part....I think caliper which cost another $25, then today the battery was dead again so he spent $77 on a new battery so the $35 brake job ended up costing at least $190!!! We should have left well enough alone! I suppose the battery can't really be counted in with that but it just seems like when it rains, it pours!

On kind of a good note, he got a job after all of that! He will be working in a warehouse running a fork truck. But, the pay is terrible. I suppose you could say it's better than nothing but it's over half of what he was making before he lost his job. It makes me sick! He's a hard worker and it's just not fair. Hopefully he can find something else eventually but in the meantime I guess this will help out. I just really need to up my time spent listing. My goal today was to list 4 things in my Ebay store, 3 in my Vintage shop and 3 in my Button shop. I took lots of pictures and started editing them but I only got 2 new things listed on Ebay and 2 on DownVintageLane. I did get a late start because we were gone this morning. We also had some company today so that kinda put a wrench in the works. Tomorrow I'm hoping to finish listing what I took pictures of today and get even more ready.

I did sell 2 things today!

Apple Platter and 8 Apple fruit bowls - Paid $2.00 - Sold for $17.50
Profit after fees and packaging - $9.54

3 Ball Half Gallon Jars - Paid $3.00 - Sold for $21.00
Profit after fees and packaging - $19.21
These jars were kinda shabby with some knicks around the rim so I sold them for less than usual.

Thanks for letting me bend your ear about our truck woes! Hopefully that will be the end of repairs for awhile! Thanks for stopping by! ~~Pam

One Sale Today

Paid $1.00 - Sold for $12.00
Profit after fees and packaging - $11.60

Tonight I worked on a label for bottles of water that we are going to sell at our bazaar. I saw the idea on Pinterest but wanted to create my own label. Melted snowmen....I think they turned out cute!

These next little guys are Hershey's nuggets dressed up as snowmen. Another cute idea found on Pinterest. I tell ya....that site has way too many cute ideas for one lifetime!

Those are just a couple of ideas we've worked on. My daughter went and bought most of her baking supplies today. She's planning on making her famous chocolate chip cookies (which have way more goodies in them than chocolate chips!) pies, cupcakes, dinner rolls, cinnamon rolls, melted snowman sugar cookies.....there's probably more. She thinks she's more than one person! I think she'll be exhausted!

My Hopes Were Dashed....

Well, my green jar didn't sell for as much as I hoped. $22.72. Some green ones have sold for $60 or more. Oh well...I put it on a 3 day auction....I probably should have been more patient and went with a 7 day auction just to give it a bit more time.

Rare Green Ball Perfect Mason Jar
Paid $1.00 Sold for $22.72
Profit after fees and packaging - $17.47

I bought this cute little boy doll at a sale a couple of months ago. The girl that went with him was also at the sale and the guy tried to get me to buy her but she looked dirty so I didn't buy. When I got home and looked them up I wish I'd had bought her because they would have been better as a couple.

 "First Kiss" Boy Porcelain Doll
Paid $2.00 Sold for $9.45
Profit after fees and packaging - $7.24

Got a call today about more jars. Went and picked up 40 more! Now I am definitely all stocked up on jars and am just waiting for the orders to start rolling in! Ha! I probably have 400 or more jars now. Hope I can sell some soon!

The Bazaar

My Mom and sisters and I are having a craft/bazaar show at my sisters house in a couple of weeks. I'm really looking forward to it! One of my sisters does graphic design and she made this flyer to put up all over town. She does really good work, doesn't she? Who wouldn't want to stop in after seeing this invitation?!! She has an Etsy shop and sells her personalized greeting cards. She gets really busy this time of year so if you need any personalized cards or stationery just hop on over and check out her shop! My sister who is having the show at her house is very talented also. She is making all sorts of wonderful things that will sell for sure. My daughter is making lots of baked goods. Her cookies won at the county fair this year and she was supposed to go to the State Fair with them but it was too late to enter! My mom will be making some of her pretty greeting cards. I have another sister that might make some things if she gets around to it. She's been pretty busy lately.

Me....I'm going to try to get a few things made. I might do some cards. I have an old sled that is for decorating purposes only that I picked up at Goodwill...I know what I want to do with it in my mind....I'm just not sure it will translate to the actual sled! I'm thinking I might take some of my blue jars and put some pebbles or Epsom salts in the bottom and then a battery operated tea light in the center of that and top it off with a zinc lid. Candles in blue jars give off a very pretty glow! I've been looking on Pinterest for some ideas of things to make. Trouble is, I've spent more time looking than doing! If I get some things made I will post them on here to see whatcha think!  Anyway, it sounds like lots of people will be coming!

No sales to report today. :( Thanks for stopping by! ~~Pam

Priority Mail....

When you are getting a package ready and you weigh it and you were planning on sending it by parcel select and then you see that to send it by Priority mail only costs 5 cents more, do you do it? I've had that happen to me a couple of times lately and I figure it's only a little bit more....might as well get it there faster and make the customer happy! What do you do?

I had 2 sales today. No fortune made today!

Homer Laughlin Gravy Boat - Paid $1.00 - Sold for $7.50
Profit after fees and shipping - $3.96

Winnie the Pooh FTD Planter
Paid 25 cents - Sold for $8.00

Well, that about sums it up! I'm off to bed. Thanks for stopping by! ~~Pam

A couple of those orders haven't paid yet and I don't have any of them ready to go to the Post Office. I will update tomorrow and let you know what my actual profit is.

Today we went to get more jars! One lady had 176 and the other had 29 for a total of 205 jars! I think I'm well stocked for awhile! When we got home I looked through the jars kind of quickly to see if there were any special ones that might sell for more. I found one Ball jar with the number 13 on the bottom. Those jars are said to be rare because people were superstitious and would break the jars that had the number 13 on the bottom! I don't know if that's true or not but I have only come across a few with that number and I've been selling jars for 4 years. I can usually sell a quart jar with the #13 on it for about $15.00. I also found a green Ball Perfect Mason quart jar! I looked up the "sold" listings and they seem to sell from $60-$80!!! I listed mine tonight and started it at $19.95 and it had a bid pretty quickly. I just put it on a 3 day auction because I saw that someone else had listed one tonight too but theirs is on a 7 day auction. Hopefully I will make some good money on it! This picture below shows the difference between the regular blue jars and the green one!

So, not a bad day. I sold $60.35 worth of merchandise. I will figure the profit tomorrow and update the pictures. I got a lot more inventory that hopefully will sell soon! Thanks for stopping by! ~~Pam

I made $23.66 profit today. Not a whole lot. BUT, if you take that and multiply it by 30 days, that's $709.80. That's grocery money for our family of 7 for a month! In fact, since my husband has been out of work, that's more than one months worth of groceries. We've been a LOT more careful with our money since he's been out of work. So like I've said before, every little bit helps! I would love to find things that would be worth more money but that takes time, which I don't have a lot of, and it also would take more money!

I am going out to buy more jars tomorrow. I had two calls about an ad that I put in our electricity's newspaper. It's a free ad and I just say that I'm looking for the blue canning jars and will pay $1.00 each for them! One lady has 27 jars and another has 170! I am hoping that I sell some lots of jars real soon! I hate to pay out that much money but I know that I will sell them......eventually!

A Few New Listings

No sales today. I re-listed a few things and added several old Avon decanters in my "Avon" section of my store. I've found out that vintage Avon isn't really that good of a seller. I've sold 3 or 4 pieces so far. I've got quite a few more to list. I found them at a yard sale for 10 cents each. That's the only reason I bought them. I figured for that price I could take a risk! But....I don't like having stuff sit around forever.

My husband has a job interview Tuesday. I don't know if I'm glad or not. It won't be a very high paying job. People say "it's better than nothing"....I don't know about that! I wish a good paying job would fall in our lap! I wish we could figure out something else. He's a very hard worker. He has his own small lawn care business but that's over with for the season. I'm sure there are people that need odd jobs done around the house that he might be able to do if they just knew about him. If he could get into something like that somehow and charge $20-$25/hr. that would be great!  I'm hoping we can figure something out. It would be great if we could get into selling on Ebay full-time but I think that will take some time to get going. Anyway...just thinking out loud!

Have a great day! ~~Pam

Estate Sales

My hubby and I went to an estate sale this afternoon. I didn't know about it until we came upon it. I wish I would have gotten there sooner. It was my kind of sale! But, it was way too expensive even with the 20% discount since today was the second day. Tomorrow morning everything is 40% off so we might stop back to see if there are a couple of things that we were looking at still there. After one o'clock the prices are reduced 70% but there probably won't be a whole lot left. Anyway, they had some of the blue Ball jars that have the wire handles....I think my husband said they had 11. Right now I'm pretty well stocked on blue jars...they are selling kinda slow! These were marked $2.50 each and I don't like to pay more than $1.00 each. If we go in the morning they would be $1.50 each which I might just buy. I did have a lady call me this afternoon that said she had 40 or 50 jars for me so I might have all I need without paying more. They had some a small box of buttons, mostly pearl...the box measured probably 3x6 and 1 inch deep marked for $35!!! No way would I pay that much. Even tomorrow afternoon at 70% off they would be $10.50 which is more than I would want to pay just to resell them. Estate sales really aren't my cup of tea. They can be fun to look through but I guess I'm too cheap to pay the prices! At least around here they seem to be pretty expensive. Yard sales are much more fun for me....wish we could have them in the winter!

Today's Sales:

The Old Curiosity Shop Butter Dish - Paid $1.38 - Sold at auction - $9.95

29 Metal Drawer Pulls - Paid $3.00 - Sold for $20.00

I went to see the doctor today. Last week I cut my leg on a curtain rod end that was sticking out on the bottom of our French door...the rubber end had come off. It left about a 2 inch gash. I just cleaned it up with a baby wipe and put band-aids on it and didn't think much more about it. Then 2 days ago one of my daughters thought it looked infected! I couldn't tell....it was a little red around the cut but it had a scab on part of it so I thought it was healing. So, being the paranoid person that I am I start googling things about infections and then thought about a tetanus shot! When was the last time I had one? It's already been a week since the cut so I'm getting scared! I called and talked to the nurse and she said the computer records only went back 5 years and I hadn't had one since then. She really made it seem like it was probably too late to get one for this incident but I should come in anyway. I called again this morning to find out exactly when my last one was so they looked up my records and it was in July of 2000! Yikes! 13 years ago! So I'm figuring I'm going to get lockjaw for sure now! I went in and the doctor said the cut looks fine...no infection, and he acted like it would be highly unlikely...like great odds....that I would get tetanus. I hope he's right! I looked up waaaayyyy too much information on it! It's a HORRIBLE disease! I really have scared myself silly about it. It's been 8 days since I cut myself  and it can take up to 21 days for symptoms to show up. 8 days is the average though. I will still be scared for the next 2 weeks! So there you have it.....now you know I'm a crazy person! I should really start getting busy with my listings to keep my mind off of it! Well, that's about all for now. Have a great day! ~~Pam

A Pretty Good Day!

Today I sold 4 items in my Ebay store and 2 items in my Etsy shop! I also washed lots of jars and got them into different lots and took lots of pictures! I now have 11 different sets of jars just waiting to be listed! I guess I did already list 2 different things on Ebay. Here they are:

I listed them both on 3-day auctions. I hope they sell that soon! The rest of the jars I will probably list in my DownVintageLane shop.

Here's what I sold today!

Sold both of these sets of tea towels for $17.45. I paid $3.50 for them.

Boys NIKE Jacket Paid $1.00 Sold for $8.95

An old scale my Dad had - free - Sold for $15.00

2 Square Ball Jars - Paid $2.00 Sold for $26.00

Buzz Light Year and Friend with lots of pieces - Not sure what I paid for this as it's been awhile.
Sold for only $8.95....was hoping for more!

So there you have it. Wish I could do that well everyday! I should have gotten busy packing them up right away....now I have to do it in the morning! Never enough time!

An Expensive Mistake!

I sold these tapes tonight! Started them at auction for $10.00 and that's what they sold for. I just had them in a cupboard for ages gathering dust so I was glad to sell them! Trouble is, I must have made a mistake when listing them and hit "free shipping" and didn't realize it! So shipping to New York cost me $7.48!! Fees were $1.19 and the padded mailer was 40 cents! I made a whopping 93 cents on the deal! Now that was worth it....(rolls my eyes). I have noticed that sometimes when I change my shipping when I'm listing that it will go back to what it was before and I have to change it again....does this happen to anybody else? I'm going to have to be more watchful....don't want this to happen again! At least it wasn't on something that might have cost $20 or more to ship! Yikes!

Have a good day! ~~Pam

Selling Summer Clothes?

Well, the mirror I showed the other day sold tonight! I put it on a 3 day auction and started it at $12.50.....it went up to $31.00!!! I wasn't expecting that at all. Now the other 2 that I have sold that look similar to this one sold for $9.95 and $12.00 but if I remember right I just put them up for Buy it Now. I guess I need to rethink auctions!
And who says you can't sell shorts in the winter? I had lowered the price on these and re-listed them a couple of days ago. I sold them for $7.95. I paid $1.00 for them. Glad I won't have to hold onto them till next summer! I guess you really can sell about anything on Ebay...sometimes you just have to be patient!

Thanks for stopping by! ~~Pam

Two Sales Today

Today I got to hear my "ca-ching" sound twice! I paid 50 cents for this sewing box and all of the supplies in it. I started it at auction for $10 and was hoping to get at least $15. It sold for $10.00.

This set of Disney encyclopedias went for $25.00. I paid $8.74 for them. At first I paid $1.00 for them at a yard sale and I thought it was a complete set. Then I realized it was missing one.....so I found that one on Ebay and paid $7.74 for it so that I could hopefully get more for my set! Well then after I received that book I realized that I was still missing another book! How could I have missed that? Instead of sinking more money into them I decided to just sell them as is. If I would have had the complete set I probably could have gotten anywhere from $30 - $50 for them. Maybe next time...!

Tomorrow I am shooting for listing 10 items. I'll let you know how it goes! ~~Pam

Does This Scare Anybody Else?

When I opened my Ebay this morning this is what I saw....I had a message! Now you wouldn't think that would put a fear into me but it does! What's the message going to say? Is it going to be good...or bad? Most of the time it's good but I did have a case opened against me a couple of weeks ago so then that scares me....the case turned out well...it was an international order and she did finally receive her package. Or I have had someone say that something broke or whatever. I guess I've only had a handful of "bad" messages but it still kinda scares me to open up the message to begin with! Does anybody else feel this way? The message this morning just ended up being about some coupon that I could use. Scared me for nothing!

No sales today. I really need to get more listed but just can't seem to find the time the past few days. Hopefully Monday I can get busy!

Have a great day! ~~Pam

Today's Finds

Paid $6.38
Paid $3.38

Well, I actually got out of the house today! Went to Goodwill and found these 2 items. I've had pretty good success selling the vanity mirrors. I think I've sold 3 in the past couple of months. Not a huge money maker but like I said...every little bit helps!  The Yankee Candle cost me more than I wanted to pay but I figure I can probably still make at least $10 clear on it. This scent is apparently discontinued as I tried to find it on their website and it wasn't there. This candle is used but only about an inch of it is gone. I sold a Yankee Candle "Lily of the Valley" scent a couple of months ago for $17.50! The thing is I only had to pay 50 cents for it at a yard sale so I ended up making $13.42 profit on that one! I started this one at $21.95 with a 3 day auction. We'll see what happens. I'm kinda hopeful because this one sold for a pretty good price! It was new but mine is almost new!

I was reading Adley's blog and his interview with Tiffany Nabors. She said she "starts everything off with a 3 day auction" and she says it increases the sales in her store. I think I'm going to try that tactic for awhile and see what happens.

Thanks for stopping by! ~~Pam

Todays Sale

I found this nice new in the box remote control caddy at a sale a couple of weeks ago for $1.00 Sold it today for $10.95 plus shipping. Take home pay after fees and everything is $8.06. Not a ton but I guess "a nickel here and a dime there" all adds up!

I'm lovin' reading all the "ebay" blogs I'm finding! It gives me incentive to look for new things and try harder. The hardest thing for me seems to be listing. I'm just not crazy about it at all! I love when I sell stuff though so I guess I can't do one without the other! I just find it hard to keep up with everything around here and get time to do the Ebay thing. We still have 5 kids at home so it gets hectic around here! I'm hoping my hubby finds a job really soon so that I don't feel so much stress about trying to sell more! Anyway, I'm listing some of the blogs that I love to read over on the sidebar. If you have one or know of one that I don't have on the list let me know...I'd love to check it out!

Have a great day! ~~Pam
